Finally Washington Discovers YouTube

As reported over at WebProNews, it seems that congress finally discovered what online videos are, and that they can be a great way to market themselves and/or damage control in a pinch. I always thought of our Government officials as technologically challenged (some of our leaders brag about not being able to use the internet, which makes them look pretty stupid in the eyes of younger generations), but I guess the phrase “better late than never” holds true.
Several pages (channels) were created, including the HouseHub and theĀ SenateHub on Youtube, which features high profile names like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Mitch McConnell and other big Government all-stars. What’s even better is that when you click on one of those channels, you’re presented with a pretty cool map and each state is linked to its respective members of Congress’ YouTube channels. I thought that was pretty cool. Now we’ll have to keep an eye on them and see who actually uses it and keeps it updated. I think it would be a great tool for re-elections (obviously as we saw in the past election), and as Harry Reid explained, it was made to, “make your government more transparent and accessible.” Nothing wrong with that, especially in light of recent events.
Anyway, we’ll see what happens!
